      Page 18 "Settlers on Greenville land before the revolution were relatively rare, though there were hints in existing records of more. James Pritchard with his wife Eleanor and four children - Elizabeth, William, James, and Mary - purchased land from the Cherokees."

      Page 38 "On the same day, (March 15 1784) the heirs of John (sic...should be James) Pritchard - his widow Eleanor and his four children - submitted a claim. (for land confiscated during the revolution)...

      By legistative act on March 26, claimants received grants of land...the five Pritchards (received) 3,200 acres."

      Page 646 "No 1247 AN ORDINANCE To Authorize The Several Persons Herein MenTIONED, TO OBTAIN GRANTS OF LAND IN THIS STATE.
      WHEREAS, the several persons hereinafter mentioned are found to Preamble, deserve a donation of lands :

      I. Be it therefore ordained, by the" honorable the Senate and House of Representatives, met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the author- Names of per- ity of the same, That the following persons shall be, and they are hereby, entitled to grants of land for the quantity annexed to their names respectively, to wit:
      George Hite, four grants of five hundred acres each ;
      Jacob Obanion Hite, two grants of five hundred acres each ;
      James Hite, one grant of five hundred acres;
      Francis Hite, one grant of five hundred acres ;
      Mary Manning, two grants of five hundred acres each ;
      Elizabeth Beale, wife of Taverner Beale, two grants of five hundred acres each;
      John Wilkinson, Elizabeth Wilkinson, Edward Wilkinson, and the youngest son of Edward Wilkinson, Esq. deceased, each a grant of six hundred and forty acres of land ;
      Eleanor Pritchard the widow, Elizabeth Purvis, William Pritchard, James Pritchard, and Mary Pritchard, children of James Pritchard, deceased, each a grant of six hundred and forty acres of land ;
      Ann Armstrong, a grant of five hundred acres;
      Baylis Earl, a grant of five hundred acres;
      which several grants of land shall be carried through the several offices established for the granting of lands, free of all fees and expenses; and that the lands be vested in each of the said persons respectively, as aforesaid, in fee simple. In the Senate House, the twenty-sixth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-four, and in the eighth year of the Independence of the United States of America."
