- Mark Alan Watson (age 72) of Oviedo, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 5:00pm on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church in Winter Park.
Mark was born on March 19, 1947 in Tampa, Florida to Jonothan and Iris (Forknall) Watson. He grew up in Tallahassee, attending Leon High School and Tallahassee Community College. He moved to Orlando in 1966 to attend Jones College, before moving to Miami in 1968. On August 19, 1972, he married Carol Elaine Ortman of Lake Worth. They raised three sons, William Clifton of Oviedo, Jason Wesley of Oviedo, and Matthew Alan of New York City.
Mark had a passion for photography and loved to take pictures at the Miami Zoo and Fairchild Botanical Gardens. He was also an avid bowler, who coached youth bowling in South Florida for 20 years. He was known for his quick wit, compassionate spirit, and love of British mysteries. In 2017 he moved to Oviedo to be closer to his only grandchild, John Wesley Watson.
Mark was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his sister Linda Dee, and his father Jonothan. He is survived by his mother, Iris, his son Cliff, daughter-in-law Keri, and grandson Wes, his sons Jason and Matt, his siblings John, David, and Lisa and their spouses Rusty, Hanna, and Jim, his in-laws Allan and Donna and their spouses Deanna and Jim, his nieces Callie and Kelly, his nephew Daniel, and several cousins.
