- Lev Herrington Prichard III, 72, died at his home in Corpus Christi early Tuesday, April 7, 2009. The only son of Lev H. Prichard Jr. and Helen Pruit Prichard Davis Matthews, he was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on March 4,1937. The family moved to San Antonio in 1948, where he attended San Antonio Academy and Texas Military Institute. He graduated from Judson Academy, Scottsdale, AZ, in 1955. He earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture at Penn State University, State College, PA, in 1959 with additional studies in ranch management at TCU, Fort Worth. He was co-owner, with his mother and stepfather, Russell Davis, of Hereford Hills Ranch in Blanco Co., TX. In 1961 he moved to Corpus Christi, where he worked at the family business. Worldwide Travel. Two years later he joined Lloyd Shelley at Shelley's Travel Service. Since 1976 he and Ralph Storm have been partners in Storm-Prichard Co. He cared deeply for the welfare of his adopted hometown and quietly but generously supported a multitude of cultural, educational, human welfare and religious organizations in the area. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and had served as an advisory director of the Bank of Corpus Christi and its successor IBC, Driscoll Children's Hospital, Salvation Army and Youth City, member of the TAMU-CC President's Council and was a Rotary Harris Fellow. He loved Baylor football and twice served on the Baylor Bear Foundation Board. He was a lifetime honorary member of the Letterman's Association. Baylor University honored him with a degree Alumnus Honoris Causa and the Herbert H. Reynolds Award for Meritorious Service. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ella Wall Prichard; a son, Lev H. Prichard IV, Dallas; a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Prichard Fagan, Corpus Christi; daughter-in-law, Cheri Mathis Prichard, Dallas; son-in-law, Scott Fagan, Corpus Christi; grandsons. Lev H. Prichard V and Evan Prichard, Dallas; granddaughters, Elaina Fagan and Leslie Fagan, Corpus Christi; and cousins Betty Lou Linehan, Dallas; Barbara Ratliff, Fort Worth; and Janet Fisher, Hempstead. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at First Baptist Church, 3115 Ocean Drive, Dr. Paul Armes, president, Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, TX, officiating, assisted by Rev. E. C. Gaertner and Rev. Grover Pinson. The burial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Foster Angels, First Baptist Church, Baylor University or the charity of your choice.
